The Meet and Greet (aka Shake a Paw!)
Before your dogs’ first walk or stay with us, we will have a meeting with you and your dog — a fun and casual “Meet and Greet”, which takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
For walking, the meeting will happen at the place where we will be picking your dog up for their scheduled walks. We will go over routines for gaining access to the home to get your dog for their walk. Your dog will need to know who is picking them up and this will give you a chance to meet us as well. To learn more, check out our Services page.
For boarding or sitting, the meet and greet will happen at our home. Your dog will get to know the place that you will be dropping them off before the actual day. They will remember the place that they came to with you, and this will put them more at ease on their drop off day. All dogs are excited to return to our place for their second stay and going forward. To learn more, check out our Services page.
During the meet and greet, either at your place or at ours, we will have a chance to get to know you, but most importantly, your dog. We will discuss important information regarding your dogs health, exercise routines, and emergency contact specifics, but most of all, we want to get to know your dogs personality. We want to know everything about them –the good, the bad, the quirky, what they love, and what they hate. Basically, what makes them ‘tick’.
Most of the meet and greet will be done through basic Q&A between you and us, but we learn the most by watching your dogs behavior while you are here. Watching how they perceive a new or strange place, how they are around you, their owners, and how they take to new people, us. It is very rare that we do any ‘pack’ introductions with your dog (with other dogs) during the meet and greet process. This can be too overwhelming for one day for your dog and our pack dogs will be introduced to your dog slowly and carefully on their first day with us after you have decided to take on our services.
The meet and greet is a very important and required part of our service to you. It is only required once before your dog starts walking or staying with us. The information we receive from you on this day can change, but we only need updates from you on these when they occur to correct the information we have on file.
This is a fun process and a great learning experience for your dog. Don’t worry, your dog will fit in! ALL dogs are pack animals by nature. It is in their DNA to be around other dogs and they will finally realize what’s been missing in their lives once they start with us.
